As learners increase their level of English, the relative importance and quantity of vocabulary they need to learn increases. This can lead to issues with learner motivation and sense of progress as they learn lexical items which are lower-frequency and so do not necessarily have the opportunity to use or be exposed to them for some time after encountering them in the classroom. This session will explore what teachers can do to effectively teach vocabulary at higher levels (C1 and C2) and also deal with these issues that can emerge.
